South East London Enterprise Learning Partnership (SELELP)
The first South East London Enterprise Learning Partnership (SELELP) is a unique collaboration which provides enterprise opportunities to 5-19 year-old students from Lewisham, Greenwich, Bexley and Bromley.
Christ the King is the coordinating institution for the SELELP, which is funded by Enterprise Village, a Specialist Schools Academy Trust initiative which provides enterprise education to young people. In February, students from participating schools attended enterprise workshops, where they designed socially and environmentally responsible products and created a marketing strategy with the help of the College's business students.
With the support of the Enterprise Network, this exciting new partnership has strengthened ties between education providers and local business leaders. It gives students of all ages a chance to acquire entrepreneurial skills and sixth formers an opportunity to develop their leadership skills.
On March 31st, SELELP's Enterprise Day will bring together hundreds of young people from across South East London for a Dragon's Den style competition. Two teams from each school will pitch their ideas to a judging panel which includes Brigitte Prentice MP, a Secret Millionaire, and representatives from REACH Role models and The Worshipful Company of International Bankers. Enterprise Day will also feature exhibits from different organisations, student work, theatrical entertainment and a judging panel of high-profile business leaders and will culminate in an awards presentation.
Enterprise Day is scheduled to take place at Christ the King from 10 until 2 on Wednesday, March 31st. We anticipate approximately 300 students from across the borough in attendance.
The following schools make up the South East London Enterprise Learning Partnership: St Joseph's RC Primary, Bromley; Morden Mount Primary, Greenwich; All Saints CE Primary, Lewisham; Brindishe Primary, Lewisham; Myatt Garden Primary, Lewisham and St Matthew Academy, Lewisham; Thomas Tallis Secondary, Greenwich; Christ the King Sixth Form, Belmont Grove and Christ the King St Mary's, Sidcup.
