General RE

The General RE programme has been specifically written to engage our students in discussions regarding the spiritual and moral issues they face as young adults looking at current affairs/events in context and the place of faith in our society. Lessons are enriched by contributions from students who participate in a range of activities aimed at meeting their needs.

General RE lessons are lively, accessible and fun. Students benefit from sharing their views with others and have the opportunity to consider issues from a wide range of perspectives including those from different faiths, backgrounds and beliefs.

Each General RE lesson lasts for 45 minutes and the programme leads to a recognised qualification which is obtained via completion of a portfolio throughout the year.

Tutorial

All students benefit from participation in a tutorial programme designed to meet the needs of 16-19 year old students. The highly relevant, engaging content includes consideration of topics such as Freedom, Rights & Responsibilities, Health & Welfare, Planning Your Future, Independent Living, and Revision & Study Skills.

The tutorial programme includes contributions from a range of visiting guest speakers and past students, and there is specialist input in a number of topics.

Tutorials are delivered by personal tutors who oversee the progress and wellbeing of each student in their care. Throughout their time at the College students are given expert support and guidance. The tutorial provision was highly praised by Ofsted who graded it as Outstanding.
