Victoria Greenwood gives Criminology talk
CTK Aquinas were very pleased to recently host a talk by Victoria Greenwood. Victoria has spent her entire career in the world of crime and penology. She has degrees in Sociology, Law and a Masters in Criminology. She has taught various aspects of Criminology at universities in both the UK and US for many years to both Law and Sociology students.
Victoria explained her educational background and how she became a criminal clerk working in the courts and prisons before training as a solicitor, specialising in the field of criminal defence. She has also co authored a book “Abortion in Demand” on the Sociology of Abortion Legislation, and has written numerous papers on women and crime, as well as rape and prostitution.
Victoria explained how Criminology is currently very popular due to TV programmes like CSI which do not necessarily reflect reality. However, Victoria explained that working in crime and penology can be very rewarding and urged students to consider it as a worthwhile career.
