CTK at Monster Confidence!

Ten students from Christ the King: Emmanuel and St. Mary’s attended the ‘Monster Confidence’ Event at Plexal, Queen Elizabeth Park in Stratford.

This event was run by the Stemettes who promote women in STEM (Science, Technology, Maths and Engineering). The students were involved in confidence workshops, mentoring and interview practice. They also met many inspirational women who currently work in STEM. It was an inspiring day for all. To top it all off, Kofo and Deborah won one weeks’ work experience with Veolia which they are really looking forward to.

Lesley Kituka, who is part of the scholarship programme at Christ the King and studies Physics, Maths and Philosophy said,

Walking in it was great to be surrounded by other young women who are passionate and enthusiastic about working in STEM fields which are very male-dominated. The various speakers increased my desire to pursue a career in STEM from hearing some of them start from rocky beginnings to then reach the level of success they have now, made me more confident about reaching my goals, despite how hard it may seem and instilled in me that I must take every opportunity that comes my way.
