Splendid Macbeth!

Christ the King College, Lewisham hosted Splendid Productions’ performance of ‘Macbeth’. It was performed to over 50 students from across the three sites and was a new adaptation by the company’s Artistic Director Kerry Frampton.

macbeth2This was the first time the Drama Studio has hosted a professional theatre company and it was an exciting and innovative version of Shakespeare’s play being condensed into an hour long production.

The performance had 3 actors who played all of the different characters and songs which were especially written for this piece. It also used sign language as well as contemporary language to engage the audience and help them understand the narrative.

The A2 drama students can now write about this live 21st century performance that they saw and in their written exam they have to compare to the original conditions of 16th/17th century England.

The students were also able to have a workshop with the actors after the performance and asked questions about the production as well as learning about ways the company work to create their performances.
