BTEC Level 1 Foundation Diploma

What will I study?

Level 1 qualifications are designed to enhance students’ work and life skills in a range of contexts. They are appropriate for a diverse range of students including those who have not yet achieved accredited qualifications (such as GCSEs) and those with specific learning needs.

The programme is designed to give students the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques. In particular, students will hone their personal skills and attributes, both of which are essential for successful performance in working life. This course is also designed to give students the opportunity to achieve a nationally recognised Foundation Level 1 qualification.

The course is made up of 10 units and students must complete all units to gain an overall pass. Each of the units will enable you to study a particular vocational area in depth. 

Units include:

  • Researching a topic
  • Working with others
  • Communicating with customers
  • Branding a product
  • Recording income and expenditure

How will I be assessed?

All assessment is based on coursework rather than examination which means that all units are assessed and graded by your teachers. An overall grade for the qualification is awarded to those who successfully complete all of the units. The grade awarded is an overall pass.

Where will a Level 1 Diploma in Business Administration lead me?

A BTEC Level 1 Diploma provides good preparation for employment in a number of careers as well as for preparation for a Level 2 qualification in a variety of subjects.
