A Level

What will I study?

This course has been designed to enable students to gain a thorough grounding in key philosophical concepts, themes, texts and techniques. Students will develop a range of transferable skills which can be applied far beyond the study of Philosophy.

In the first year, we will concentrate on a number of key philosophical themes which provide students with a broad introduction to Philosophy. These include:

  • Epistemology
  • Moral Philosophy

In the second year, students will specialise further through the study of the Metaphysics of God and the Metaphysics of the Mind. Themes and texts are integrated and will help to develop a deep appreciation of this fascinating subject.

What do I need to study this course?

GCSE English (Grade 9-5).

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is by written examination.

Where will A Level Philosophy lead me?

Philosophy is a challenging subject. Many students go on to study the subject at university level as it provides an excellent basis for a wide variety of careers such as Law, Journalism and Mathematics. The rigorous and logical approaches developed by this subject are considered invaluable by employers.
