What will I study?

If you choose to study Further Mathematics you must also be studying Mathematics. The time commitment is doubled so it is essential that you really do enjoy, and are good at Mathematics. It gives you the opportunity to study all the applied Mathematics options, whilst covering more advanced algebraic techniques. If you are considering applying for Mathematics at university you are strongly advised to take this course.

Topics to study include: summation of series, reduction to linear form, roots of polynomial equations, complex numbers, matrices, algebra and graphs, complex numbers and de Moivre’s theorem, hyperbolics and matrices.

What do I need to study this course?

GCSE Mathematics (Grade 9-7) and a passion for the subject.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is by examination.

Where will A Level Further Mathematics lead me?

This course will provide entry to Mathematics degree courses at top institutions and is sometimes an essential qualification if you want to read Engineering, Physics or Chemistry at university.
