BTEC Level 2 Diploma

What will I study?

The BTEC First Diploma in Business is designed to provide specialist work-related qualifications in a range of sectors. The course equips learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary to prepare for employment and higher education. Learners will complete projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, with a particular focus on finance, ICT, law and marketing. The qualification is equivalent to four GCSEs (Grade 9-4) and is a one year full time programme, comprising of 11 units.

Enterprise in the Business World

  • Finance for Business
  • Small Business Planning

The Mandatory units of the BTEC First Diploma are: 

  • Promoting a Brand
  • Principles of Marketing
  • Introducing Project Management

What do I need to study this course?

4 GCSEs (Grades 3-2), including English, and a commitment to this area of study.

How will I be assessed?

Most units are internally assessed and graded by your teachers. There are two externally assessed units which are marked by the awarding body. These units include Finance for Business and Principles of Marketing. An overall grade for the qualification is awarded to those who successfully complete all units and the grades are awarded are Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Where will a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Business lead me?

The BTEC First Level 2 Diploma in Business is valued by employers and can lead to other opportunities in business specialisms such as Finance, Human Resources, Management and Marketing. Students may also progress on to BTEC Technical Advanced Diploma courses.
