Christ the King Sixth Form College

Beyond the Classroom

At Christ the King, we put great emphasis on examination success. But you will find that there is much more to College life than what goes on in the classroom.

There are many musical and artistic opportunities and a wide variety of sports. You can join expeditions away from College, too. Whatever your interest or passion, you can pursue it at Christ the King. We hope you will develop some new ones, too.

We will also encourage you to get involved in volunteering, community projects, and fundraising for those less fortunate than yourselves.

While these projects are a lot of fun – and give you a welcome break from coursework! - they also help you to develop skills such as self-reliance and team-work which can give you the edge when you apply to university or for work.

From your first day at Christ the King, we want you to think about your chosen career. You will have regular contact with our specialist on-site Careers Advisers, who will give you expert guidance on the skills and qualifications you need in order to succeed in your chosen field.

There are opportunities to do work placements at top City companies and at our annual Careers Fair you can network with executives from a host of prestigious businesses and organisations.

Our External Speaker Programme brings in visitors from universities all over the country. Hearing from those with first-hand experience – including Christ the King alumni – will help you to make the right decision on where to apply. You will also find inspiration from those who have reached the top of their profession: the American Ambassador to the UK was a recent visitor. Rather than simply delivering a lecture, he engaged students in a fascinating debate about British perceptions of the US and topics like gun crime and the advantages of our respective healthcare systems.

You will also hear from entrepreneurs and high-fliers in the creative industries. Whether you want to study Biochemical Engineering at Bristol or English Literature at Manchester, set up your own company, become a barrister, work in corporate finance or join the Metropolitan Police, we’ve got it covered!

Whatever your talents and ambitions, our mission is to help you to be the best that you can be.
